Elderly Companion & Monitoring Service

Our elderly companion service directly addresses the "loneliness" crisis in Japan's aging society. Japan is home to approximately 7 million seniors living alone. Many of them go entire days without speaking to another person. Their children live far away, their spouse has passed on, and neighborhood ties have faded. The number of people whose only "conversation partner" is the television is staggering. I expanded this service after a consultation with a son who said: "I work in Tokyo and can only visit my mother in Kyushu once a month. The thought that she speaks to no one in between keeps me awake at night." The report from the staff member who visited his mother stayed with me: "After just two hours of conversation, her expression completely changed. When I was leaving, she held my hand and wouldn't let go." This is not a nursing care service. What we provide is "human connection." Sharing tea, taking walks, listening to old stories, accompanying someone to the shops — research consistently proves that these everyday interactions profoundly impact seniors' physical and mental health. Hospital escort is another vital offering. Feeling anxious about going to the doctor alone, wanting someone to listen to the doctor's explanation together, wanting to stop at the shops on the way home — we answer all of these needs. Being a warm, supportive presence in place of family — that is our role.
